Tour Métallique de Fourvière
Standing proudly on the Fourvière hill, the Tour Métallique de Fourvière is one of Lyon’s most recognizable landmarks. Built between 1892 and 1894, this iron tower rises to 85.9 meters and is often compared to a miniature version of the Eiffel Tower. The Tour Métallique de Fourvière is located at Montée Nicolas de Lange in Lyon’s 5th arrondissement, perched on the Fourvière hill, which is the highest point in the city at 372 meters above sea level. This iconic metal structure, resembling the Eiffel Tower, stands close to the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière and offers panoramic views over Lyon, although it now serves primarily as a television relay and is not accessible to the public. Nearby are the historic Vieux Lyon district with its Renaissance architecture, the Saint-Jean Cathedral, the Parc des Hauteurs, and several museums including the Musée de Fourvière.
