Palácio da Pena is located atop the highest peak of Serra de Sintra within the Pena Park, Portugal, about 4 km uphill from Sintra's historic centre. This iconic 19th-century Romanticist palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site built around a former 16th-century Hieronymite monastery, overlooks the town and ocean. Nearby lie Castelo dos Mouros ruins reachable by Scotturb bus 434, the lush forested trails and gardens of Pena Park with its lakes entrance and Cruz Alta viewpoint, hiking paths like the Santa Maria Trail, and easy connections back to Sintra National Palace, the train station, Quinta da Regaleira, and Moorish Castle.
