Castle of the Moors is located atop the Serra de Sintra hills about 3.5 km from Sintra's historic centre, Portugal, winding over two ridges amid granite boulders. This 8th-9th century Moorish fortress, conquered in 1147 and part of the UNESCO-listed Sintra Cultural Landscape, offers panoramic views across the region. Nearby are Palácio da Pena reachable by a short walk or Scotturb bus 434, the Santa Maria Hiking Trail with Church of Santa Maria, forested Pena Park trails and lakes entrance, ruins of its own Romanesque chapel, and bus connections back to Sintra National Palace, the train station, and Quinta da Regaleira.
