Museum of Central Finland
About

The Museum of Central Finland, known as KeMu, is Jyväskylä’s cultural history museum and a key part of the Aalto2 Museum Centre. Housed in a striking building designed by Alvar Aalto and completed in 1960, the museum explores the identity, heritage, and everyday life of Central Finland from the Stone Age to the present. Its permanent exhibition leads visitors through regional history, innovations, landscapes, and personal memories, while temporary exhibitions offer fresh perspectives on local culture, art, and contemporary phenomena. Interactive elements, audiovisual displays, and the family‑friendly Nappula activity area make the museum engaging for all ages. As both the regional museum of Central Finland and the city museum of Jyväskylä, KeMu provides an inviting journey into the stories, traditions, and creativity that have shaped the region.
