Lahti Historical Museum is housed in the rose‑coloured former Lahti Manor, a late‑19th‑century bourgeois residence that now forms an elegant setting for exploring the cultural history of Lahti and the wider Päijät‑Häme region. Inside, modern exhibition design meets the atmosphere of the old manor. The museum’s main permanent exhibition, A Favourable Place, traces everyday life in the region from the post‑Ice Age era to the present, blending historical objects with immersive digital elements to create an engaging journey through time. Changing exhibitions add new perspectives, from local stories to broader cultural themes, while the surrounding park and renovated interiors highlight the building’s layered past. As part of the Lahti City Museums, named Museum of the Year 2025, the Historical Museum plays a central role in preserving regional heritage and offering visitors a thoughtful, accessible encounter with Lahti’s history.

Lahti Historical Museum is located in the city centre of Lahti at Kartanonkatu 1, 15110 Lahti, housed in the historic former Lahti Manor building just a short walk south of the main Aleksanterinkatu street. The museum sits amid a compact urban‑park setting close to Kariniemi Park and the Ace Cafe Lahti, making it easy to combine a visit with a stroll or casual café stop in this lively area. Nearby, visitors can also reach the Lahti Museum of Visual Arts Malva in the old Malski‑brewery quarter, the Lahti harbour and Sibelius Hall by Lake Vesijärvi, as well as Alvar Aalto’s Church of the Cross and the Lahti Sports Centre, all within a short distance by foot or tram.
