Lanu Sculpture Park in Lahti is an atmospheric open‑air art environment set within the wooded slopes of Kariniemi, where twelve large concrete sculptures by Olavi Lanu blend seamlessly into the natural landscape. Created between 1989 and 1992, the works depict human figures, rocks, trees and organic forms, their soft contours and grey surfaces intentionally echoing the surrounding forest. Over time, many sculptures have developed a natural moss covering, further enhancing the illusion that they are part of the terrain. Visitors encounter the pieces gradually along forest paths, reinforcing the artist’s idea of discovery rather than display. The park is accessible year‑round, offering a different character in each season, from lush summer greenery to snow‑covered winter stillness. As one of Lahti’s most distinctive cultural attractions, Lanu Sculpture Park invites quiet exploration and a reflective dialogue between art and nature.

Created between 1988-1992, it showcases 12 massive concrete sculptures by local artist Olavi Lanu, seamlessly integrated into the lush forest grove. A pleasant 30-minute walk from Market Square via Vapaudenkatu, it offers free parking and connects to Lahti Harbour's paid lots near Sibelius Hall.
