The museum includes an apothecary’s house and a room dedicated to the writer Minna Canth, adding literary and cultural depth to the experience. Set in one of the city’s oldest neighbourhoods, the block reflects a time when richer and poorer residents lived side by side, creating a natural foundation for today’s diverse museum environment. Established in 1982 after growing public interest in preserving Kuopio’s wooden heritage, the museum offers seasonal exhibitions and a peaceful courtyard that invites visitors to step into the rhythms of past everyday life.
