Puijo Tower crowns the forested Puijo ridge as Kuopio’s most iconic viewpoint, offering sweeping panoramas over Lake Kallavesi and the surrounding Lakeland. The current tower, completed in 1963 and designed by Seppo Ruotsalainen, rises 75 metres above the hilltop and was the first in the Nordic countries to feature a revolving restaurant, a 100‑seat dining space that slowly turns to reveal the landscape in every direction. The tower stands 224 metres above the lake and 306 metres above sea level, making it a natural focal point for visitors exploring the city. Its observation deck, café, and restaurant welcome guests year‑round, while the Puijo area itself is a protected nature reserve with trails, viewpoints, and ski jumping hills nearby. Today Puijo Tower remains a symbol of Kuopio, blending modern engineering with the tranquillity of Finnish nature.

Puijo Tower stands on Puijo hill at Puijontie 135 in Kuopio, Finland, about 3 km northeast of the city centre and the main market square, easily reached by car, bus, or on foot via the Puijo hiking trail. The tower overlooks the surrounding forests and Lake Kallavesi, offering panoramic views of the Finnish Lakeland, and is surrounded by the Puijo nature area with walking paths, ski slopes, and cross‑country tracks that lead into the wider Puijo recreational zone. Nearby you also find Puijo Stadium, the Puijo tourism area with a café and restaurant, while the historic Great Cemetery and the central districts of Kuopio, including the cathedral and Puijo hill’s main viewpoints, lie within a short walk or drive from the tower.
