Palanga Botanical Park

Palanga Botanical Park is one of Lithuania’s most beautiful landscaped parks, designed in the late 19th century by the renowned French architect Édouard André. Surrounding the Tiškevičiai Palace, it blends romantic scenery with botanical richness, making it both a cultural monument and a living garden. Winding paths, ponds, bridges and carefully framed viewpoints create a sense of harmony that has defined the park for more than a century. Inside the park, visitors can explore themed zones featuring rare trees, ornamental shrubs and seasonal flower displays. The rose garden is a favourite in summer, while the extensive collection of conifers offers colour even in winter. One of the most interesting features is the park’s network of small lakes connected by canals, originally designed to reflect the palace façade and create a serene, mirror‑like landscape. The Birutė Hill area adds a layer of mythology. Once a sacred pagan site, it now hosts a small chapel and offers one of the best viewpoints over the dunes and sea. Sculptures scattered throughout the park—classical figures, modern works and pieces linked to local legends—add artistic depth to the natural setting.
