Green Park

Green Park
About

Green Park is a peaceful 40-acre Royal Park in central London, known for its wide tree-lined avenues and open grassland. Unlike other Royal Parks, it has no flower beds, a result of a royal decree by Queen Catherine of Braganza in the 17th century, who ordered all flowers removed out of jealousy. The park is home to several important war memorials, including the Canada Memorial, the Bomber Command Memorial, and the Memorial Gates, which honor those who served in the two World Wars, including troops from Canada, India, Africa, and the Caribbean. Visitors can enjoy tranquil walks, picnics, and seasonal displays such as the springtime bloom of around one million daffodils. The park also hosts traditional Royal Gun Salutes on special occasions. In August, it even welcomes sheep grazing during Green Park Grazing Week, a nod to its rural past. Its location near Buckingham Palace and The Mall makes it a serene retreat amid London’s bustling cityscape. Amenities include shaded paths, grassy areas for sunbathing, and the Watering Holes Fountain providing fresh water for visitors and dogs
