Adica Forest Park

Adica Forest Park is Vukovar’s green refuge, a quiet riverside woodland just a short walk from the city centre. Known for its mix of oak, ash and hornbeam trees, Adica has long been a favourite local escape—its name likely comes from an old Slavic word for “wild forest,” reflecting the area’s untouched character. One interesting fact is that Adica was once part of a much larger Danube floodplain forest. Its terrain still shows traces of that past: winding paths follow former river channels, and the air is noticeably cooler thanks to dense shade and rich vegetation. Wildlife is abundant too—visitors often spot deer, foxes, woodpeckers and rare songbirds. Inside the park, the main attraction is its network of walking and cycling trails, ideal for slow exploration. A wooden footbridge leads deeper into the forest, where benches and clearings create natural rest spots. The central meadow is used for outdoor events, picnics and sports, giving the park a lively social role during summer.
