Sea Garden

About

Sea Garden in Burgas is the city’s most beloved landmark—a sweeping coastal park where nature, culture, and seaside life blend into one long promenade. Created in the early 20th century, it was shaped by the visionary gardener Georgi Duhtev, who introduced exotic species that still surprise visitors today. Walking its paths, you’ll notice palms, magnolias, and rare conifers thriving unusually close to the Black Sea. The park is full of small discoveries. The open‑air Summer Theatre hosts concerts under the stars, while the Sculpture Alley displays works by Bulgarian artists tucked between lawns and flowerbeds. Near the central entrance, the iconic Flora Exhibition Centre presents rotating shows of orchids, bonsai, and contemporary garden design. Families gravitate toward the children’s zone with vintage amusement rides, and history lovers explore the Naval Museum, where anchors, torpedoes, and ship relics tell Burgas’s maritime story.

Location

The Sea Garden sits right along the Black Sea shore in the heart of Burgas, stretching for several kilometres as the city’s main coastal park. You reach it easily from the pedestrian centre by following Aleko Bogoridi Street until it opens out onto the greenery and sea views. Once you’re there the Burgas Pier is just a short walk away, jutting out into the water with lovely views back over the bay. The old Sea Casino building stands nearby as a cultural centre, and the open-air Summer Theatre is tucked among the trees for evening shows. The central beach runs right alongside the park, so you can dip down to the sand whenever you fancy. A few minutes’ stroll inland brings you into the city centre with its museums — the Archaeological Museum, Ethnographic Museum and Historical Museum are all close by. The State Opera and the Adriana Budevska Drama Theatre are also within easy walking distance, along with the big Saints Cyril and Methodius Cathedral and the lively shopping streets. Everything feels relaxed and connected, so you can wander from park to pier to museums without any rush.
