Muzeu i Elektroekonomisë së Kosovës in Prizren is a rare and fascinating tribute to the region’s industrial and technological development. Set inside a former electrical substation, the museum preserves the story of how electricity transformed everyday life in Kosovo—from the first power lines to modern energy infrastructure. Its industrial architecture, with exposed brick and original metal fittings, gives visitors an authentic sense of early electrical engineering. Inside, the museum showcases an impressive collection of vintage equipment: early transformers, ceramic insulators, switchboards, and measuring devices that once powered Prizren’s factories and homes. One of the most interesting exhibits is a fully preserved control panel, complete with analog gauges and levers that technicians used to regulate the city’s electrical flow. Photographs and technical diagrams trace the expansion of the grid, revealing how electrification shaped industry, education, and domestic life. A dedicated section highlights local engineers who contributed to Kosovo’s energy development, along with stories of how the system was maintained during periods of political and economic challenge.
