Old Stone Bridge is one of Prizren’s most iconic symbols, a graceful Ottoman‑era structure that has connected the two sides of the city for centuries. Although rebuilt several times due to floods and war damage, its current form preserves the spirit of the original 16th‑century bridge that once carried merchants, travelers, and caravans across the Bistrica River. Its three arches, slightly uneven and charmingly asymmetrical, reflect traditional Balkan craftsmanship. Walking across the bridge offers more than a simple crossing. From its central arch, visitors can admire one of Prizren’s most photogenic scenes: the river flowing beneath, the Sinan Pasha Mosque rising on one side, and the fortress perched high above the rooftops. This viewpoint is especially atmospheric at dusk, when the stones glow and the reflections shimmer in the water. The bridge also serves as a cultural stage. During festivals, musicians and performers often gather nearby, turning the area into a lively open‑air venue.

The Old Stone Bridge sits right in the heart of Prizren’s old town, crossing the river and linking Shadervan Square on one side with the streets on the other. It’s the classic spot that appears in almost every photo of the city, easy to find once you’re wandering the historic centre. Just beside it rises the Sinan Pasha Mosque, and Shadervan Square with its fountain and cafés is only a few steps away. A short walk takes you to the Albanian League of Prizren Museum and the Archaeological Museum in the old hammam with its clock tower. The Cathedral of Saint George and the Church of Our Lady of Ljeviš are also close by in the same compact area. Uphill from the bridge the Prizren Fortress offers wide views over the rooftops, the river and the surrounding mountains, only about a fifteen-minute climb. Everything connects on foot, so after crossing the bridge you can simply continue exploring the rest of Prizren’s landmarks at a relaxed pace.
