The National Theatre of Kosovo, located in central Pristina, is the country’s oldest and most prestigious performing arts institution. Founded in 1946 in Prizren and relocated to Pristina in 1948, it was originally known as the People’s Provincial Theatre. Over the decades, it has evolved into a cornerstone of Kosovo’s cultural life, producing more than 400 premieres and drawing over three million spectators. As the only public theatre in the country, it is funded by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and serves as a platform for both Albanian and Serbian-language productions.
