About

Forum Box is a non-profit, artist-run gallery located on Ruoholahdenranta in Helsinki. Established in 1996 by sculptor Kain Tapper, the space was transformed from a former cold storage facility into a vibrant art venue through a renovation led by architect Juhani Pallasmaa. Since opening in 1999, Forum Box has become a cornerstone of Finland’s contemporary art scene, hosting monthly exhibitions and multidisciplinary events including performances, concerts, and workshops. With over 90 artist members, the cooperative fosters an inclusive and experimental environment, welcoming both established and emerging voices. The gallery’s Mediabox space highlights video art, while its open call system ensures a dynamic and evolving programme. Forum Box maintains strong ties with institutions like Kiasma and regularly collaborates on international projects, positioning itself as a vital platform for artistic exchange and cultural dialogue in Helsinki.

Forum Box is located at Ruoholahdenranta 3 A in the Ruoholahti district of Helsinki, a dynamic area known for its blend of urban life and waterfront views. The gallery is easily accessible, just about 100 meters from the Länsilinkki tram stop, served by trams 7 and 9, and is connected to the city center via the popular Baana cycling route originating from the railway station.
