WIELS is a leading contemporary art centre in Brussels, housed in the former Wielemans-Ceuppens brewery—a striking example of modernist industrial architecture. Since opening in 2007, it has become a dynamic platform for artistic creation and dialogue, hosting temporary exhibitions by emerging and established artists from around the world. With no permanent collection, WIELS focuses on innovative, thought-provoking shows that reflect current social and cultural issues. This contemporary art centre is housed in a stunning former brewery building, originally the Blomme building, which was once the largest brewhouse in continental Europe. Since opening in 2007, Wiels has developed into a leading platform for contemporary art through its temporary exhibitions and artist residencies, spread across spacious galleries, studios, and an auditorium. The site also features a café situated in the atmospheric brewing hall, where visitors can relax after exploring the art.
