WIELS is a leading contemporary art centre in Brussels, housed in the former Wielemans-Ceuppens brewery—a striking example of modernist industrial architecture. Since opening in 2007, it has become a dynamic platform for artistic creation and dialogue, hosting temporary exhibitions by emerging and established artists from around the world. With no permanent collection, WIELS focuses on innovative, thought-provoking shows that reflect current social and cultural issues. Wiels is located at 354 Avenue Van Volxemlaan in the Forest municipality of Brussels, postal code 1190. This contemporary art centre is housed in a stunning former brewery building, originally the Blomme building, which was once the largest brewhouse in continental Europe. Since opening in 2007, Wiels has developed into a leading platform for contemporary art through its temporary exhibitions and artist residencies, spread across spacious galleries, studios, and an auditorium. The site also features a café situated in the atmospheric brewing hall, where visitors can relax after exploring the art.
