The Egapark Observation Tower in Erfurt rises above one of Germany’s most celebrated garden parks, offering visitors panoramic views across the city and the surrounding Thuringian landscape. Originally part of the historic Cyriaksburg fortress, the tower was integrated into the Egapark grounds during the transformation of the site into a horticultural exhibition park in 1961. Today, it stands as both a landmark and a vantage point, inviting guests to admire Europe’s largest ornamental flowerbed, themed gardens, and the vibrant seasonal displays that make Egapark a jewel of modern garden architecture. Location

The Egapark Observation Tower is located within Egapark at Gothaer Straße 38, 99094 Erfurt, in the southwest part of the city atop Cyriaksberg (Cyriaks Mountain), which was once the site of the historic Cyriaksburg Citadel. The tower itself is a converted 16th-century gun turret, now offering panoramic views across Egapark and the Erfurt basin. Nearby, visitors will find the vast themed gardens of Egapark, the Danakil desert and jungle house, the German Horticultural Museum, the sculpture garden at the tower’s base, playgrounds, and easy access to public transport with tram line 2 stopping close to the main entrance.​
