Espace Archéologie et Environnement du Lac d'Annecy is housed within the Musée-Château d'Annecy at Place du Château in the heart of Annecy's historic old town, occupying 700 m² in the Tour and Logis Perrière sections of the castle, with panoramic lake and mountain views and easy pedestrian access from the lakeside or town center. Nearby attractions include the rest of the Musée-Château's collections on regional history and art, the iconic Palais de l'Île on the Thiou Canal, and the medieval old town's canals, bridges, markets, and cafés evoking the "Venice of the Alps". Just downhill are Lake Annecy's promenades, Jardins de l'Europe park, Pont des Amours, and beaches for waterside strolls and relaxation, all within a short walk.​
