This modern opera house opened in 1991 with a distinctive cylindrical auditorium capped by a rounded dome rising 47 meters. Nearby, the Torre del Oro naval museum stands directly beside it to the west, while the Real Maestranza bullring occupies the adjacent block, Paseo Colón promenades lead toward Plaza de Cuba eastward, and María Luisa Park with Plaza de España unfolds south across Puente de Isabel II.
