Palacio de los Marqueses del Carpio is one of Córdoba’s lesser‑known yet historically significant noble residences, a place where aristocratic power and artistic refinement once converged. Dating back to the early modern period, the palace belonged to the influential Carpio family, whose lineage played an important role in Andalusian politics and culture. Although much of its original structure has evolved over time, the building still preserves elements that reflect its noble past, including elegant façades, spacious interiors, and architectural details characteristic of Córdoba’s grand houses. Its location in the historic centre adds to its charm, offering a glimpse into the world of the city’s former elite. Today, the palace stands as a reminder of Córdoba’s layered social history, evoking the prestige and legacy of one of its most powerful families while contributing to the rich architectural tapestry that defines the city.

Palacio de los Marqueses del Carpio is located on Calle San Fernando, between Calle Cabezas and the Feria/San Fernando axis, forming part of the old city walls that once separated the medieval Medina from the Axerquía district. It stands very close to the Arco del Portillo and just a short walk from the riverside Ribera area, with the historic streets of the old centre, traditional houses, churches and other stretches of the ancient walls nearby, making it an atmospheric stop on a walking route between the commercial heart of Córdoba and the Guadalquivir.
