The Roman Bridge of Córdoba stretches gracefully across the Guadalquivir River, forming one of the city’s most iconic and enduring landmarks. Originally built in the 1st century BC, it served as a vital crossing on the Via Augusta, linking Córdoba with the wider Roman world. Although rebuilt and restored many times, the bridge still preserves its ancient layout, with sixteen arches that create a striking silhouette against the historic skyline. Walking across it offers a memorable journey through time, framed by views of the Mezquita‑Cathedral on one side and the Calahorra Tower on the other. At sunset, the stone glows with warm golden tones, making it a favourite spot for photographers and visitors alike. Originally constructed by Romans in the 1st century BC and later rebuilt by Moors in the 8th century, this iconic 247-meter structure with 16 arches served as Córdoba's sole river crossing for two millennia until the mid-20th century, now a pedestrianized UNESCO World Heritage gem. Nearby treasures await along its path. Torre de la Calahorra guards the southern end as a 12th-century museum of Al-Andalus life, while Puerta del Puente arches triumphantly at the northern approach with Renaissance splendor.
