Parque Dr. Manuel Braga is located along Avenida Emídio Navarro on the right bank of the Mondego River, right at the foot of Coimbra's historic center near Largo da Portagem. This iconic early 20th-century park, originally the Ínsua dos Bentos estate and landscaped by Jacinto de Matos, stretches along the riverfront with shaded plane tree avenues, flowerbeds, a historic bandstand (coreto), the Museu da Água in the old pump house, and statues including one to its namesake environmentalist Dr. Manuel Braga. Nearby attractions encompass the Santa Clara Bridge across to the opposite bank, Parque Verde do Mondego downstream, Mosteiro de Santa Cruz and Baixa shops uphill, Pedro e Inês Footbridge further along the river, lively cafés around Praça da Canção, and easy access to the ascending streets toward the University of Coimbra Alta district.
