Discovered in the early 20th century, it quickly gained a reputation for its exceptional beauty, with delicate draperies, sculpted limestone columns and crystal-clear pools shaped over thousands of years. Visitors follow a guided path that reveals vast chambers, narrow passages and shimmering mineral textures illuminated to highlight their natural elegance. The constant cool temperature and gentle acoustics create a peaceful, almost magical experience. Located just outside the centre of Dinant, La Merveilleuse offers an unforgettable journey into the geological history of the region and remains a highlight for nature lovers and curious travellers alike.

Grotte La Merveilleuse is located at Charreau des Capucins 23 in Dinant, within the grounds of the La Merveilleuse Resort on the left bank of the Meuse River, just a short walk south of the city centre. Discovered in 1904, this stunning cave features delicate white stalactites, stalagmites, and formations resembling waterfalls, with easy access and guided tours available. It shares the site with Maison Leffe in the former Capuchin convent chapel and is steps from Les Bains de Dinant spa facilities. A brief 5-10 minute walk leads to the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame, Charles de Gaulle Bridge, and Dinant Citadel, while the town centre's cafés, shops, and Maison Adolphe Sax or Maison de la Pataphonie are also easily reachable along the riverside paths. Notre-Dame de Leffe Abbey lies about 1km further south.
