The Charles de Gaulle Bridge is one of Dinant’s most recognisable landmarks, linking the two sides of the city across the Meuse River. Named after the French general who was wounded here during World War I, the bridge blends historical significance with a lively contemporary atmosphere. Its colourful display of oversized saxophone sculptures, each representing a different country, pays tribute to Adolphe Sax, Dinant’s most famous native and the inventor of the saxophone. The bridge offers beautiful views of the Collegiate Church, the Citadel and the riverside façades, making it a favourite spot for photos and leisurely strolls. More than a simple crossing, the Charles de Gaulle Bridge captures the spirit of Dinant—creative, historic and deeply connected to the Meuse Valley.

Charles de Gaulle Bridge spans the Meuse River in the heart of Dinant, Wallonia, Belgium, near Rue de la Station and close to the train station, connecting the town's east and west banks with wide pedestrian walkways adorned by giant colorful saxophone sculptures honouring Adolphe Sax, Dinant's famous inventor. Originally dating to the 9th century with multiple reconstructions, including after wartime destructions, it offers stunning views of the Citadel towering above, the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame immediately adjacent at Place Reine Astrid, and the vibrant quayside with shops, cafés, and riverside paths. Nearby landmarks include Maison Adolphe Sax and Maison de la Pataphonie just steps away on Rue Adolphe Sax, Grotte La Merveilleuse and Maison Leffe a short walk south across the bridge, Rocher Bayard upstream towards Anseremme, and easy access to the cable car up to the Citadel.
