Stadspark is Antwerp’s most iconic inner‑city park, a 14‑hectare green triangle created in 1867 on the former Herentals fort. Designed in the English landscape style, it was shaped into a romantic landscape of winding paths, gentle slopes, curated viewpoints, and a central pond that softened the strict lines of the old fortifications. Its character is defined by lush tree canopies, artificial rock formations, and the elegant suspension bridge built between 1867 and 1869, still one of the park’s most recognisable features. Sculptures such as the America statue, several war memorials, and even a preserved World War II bunker add cultural depth and a sense of layered history. Despite being surrounded by busy boulevards, Stadspark remains a peaceful refuge where joggers circle the pond, families gather at the playground, skaters use the dedicated area, and visitors relax at the brasserie overlooking the greenery. It continues to serve as a beloved escape in the heart of Antwerp, offering shade, tranquillity, and a touch of historic charm.

Stadspark, Antwerp's central city park spanning 14 hectares (35 acres), is situated in the heart of the city near Antwerpen-Centraal railway station. Bounded by Rubenslei, Van Eycklei, and Quinten Matsijslei streets, it lies in the Jewish quarter and diamond district, making it the only green space in the urban core. Nearby landmarks include the Rubenshuis museum, the former home and studio of painter Peter Paul Rubens, just a short walk away.
