Liberec Town Hall is the city’s most iconic building, a neo‑Renaissance masterpiece completed in 1893 and inspired by Vienna’s Rathaus. Its soaring tower, ornate façade, and sculptural details reflect the confidence of a rapidly growing industrial city. Inside, visitors can admire richly decorated ceremonial halls, stained‑glass windows depicting local history, and elegant staircases lined with carved stone and woodwork. One of the most interesting features is the council chamber, preserved with original furnishings that reveal the political culture of the late 19th century. The building also houses historical exhibits and period offices that show how municipal administration once operated. From the tower, accessible on guided tours, you can enjoy one of the best panoramic views of Liberec and the surrounding Jizera Mountains. The combination of architectural grandeur and civic heritage makes the Town Hall a defining symbol of the city’s identity.

Liberec Town Hall is located in the historic city centre of Liberec, on Dr. E. Beneše Square, in the Liberec I-Staré Město district. This impressive Neo-Renaissance building was constructed between 1888 and 1893 by Viennese architect Franz Neumann and strongly resembles Vienna City Hall. In 2023, it was declared a national cultural heritage site, and its 65-metre-tall tower offers panoramic views of the city. The town hall remains the seat of the municipal authority and is open to the public during office hours. In summer, guided tours let you visit the beautifully decorated Ceremonial Hall and climb the tower’s observation deck at 31 metres, after 187 steps, where you can also admire the large clock mechanism. Being in the very heart of the city, the Town Hall is surrounded by many top attractions. Right nearby are the Liberec Chateau, the North Bohemian Museum, and the Regional Gallery, all within easy walking distance. The Valdštejn Houses and Scholz’s House, historic buildings with interesting architecture, are also close by. For a fuller day out, you can visit the famous Liberec Zoo and its beautiful Botanical Garden, the interactive IQ Park science centre, or head up Ještěd Mountain to its iconic hotel and TV transmitter with sweeping views over the region.
