Kostel svatého Ducha

Kostel svatého Ducha is one of Telč’s most atmospheric sacred buildings, standing slightly apart from the historic centre and offering a quieter, more contemplative experience than the town’s larger churches. Dating back to the early 14th century, it is among the oldest structures in Telč. Its simple Gothic form, with a narrow nave and modest tower, reflects the architectural style of rural parish churches of the period. An interesting fact is that the church once stood outside the medieval town walls, serving travellers and local communities long before Telč gained its Renaissance splendour. Inside, the church preserves a serene, almost monastic atmosphere. The main altar features a Baroque depiction of the Holy Spirit, surrounded by soft natural light filtering through small Gothic windows. Visitors can also see fragments of medieval wall paintings and a beautifully carved wooden pulpit. The tower, though small, adds charm with its traditional shingled roof. Kostel svatého Ducha remains a quiet reminder of Telč’s early spiritual history.
