Várkazamata – Kőtár is one of Győr’s most atmospheric historical sites, hidden beneath the former castle district. Today, the vaulted stone corridors house the Kőtár, an evocative lapidarium that brings centuries of local history into focus. The Várkazamata – Kőtár is located at Bécsi kapu tér 5 in the heart of Győr, very close to the historic center and the square. It is situated in the casemate system of the former Győr Castle, a part of the medieval fortress that once stood here. Nearby attractions include Győr Town Hall, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks inaugurated in 1900, which is just a short walk away.
