Palazzo Civico is located on Piazza della Riforma, the main square in the heart of Lugano, Switzerland. Built in the 1840s in Neoclassical style, it serves as Lugano’s town hall and is recognizable by its arcaded portico, clock tower, and statues in the façade niches. The building frames the lively piazza, which is the city’s social hub with cafés, restaurants, and pastel-colored palazzi that host markets and events throughout the year. Right around Palazzo Civico you’ll find Lugano’s historic old town with narrow streets like Via Nassa, known for its arcaded shops and boutiques. A few steps away is the lakeside promenade and Parco Ciani, a large park with gardens, sculptures, and paths along Lake Lugano. The Cathedral of Saint Lawrence sits above the old town with its Renaissance façade and panoramic terrace.
