City Museum of Novi Sad’s Foreign Art Collection is one of the city’s most refined cultural treasures, housed in a quiet wing of the Petrovaradin Fortress complex. It offers an unexpected journey through European artistic traditions, gathered over decades through donations, cultural exchanges, and curatorial acquisitions. One of its most interesting facts is that the collection grew significantly during the 1960s and 70s, when Novi Sad fostered strong ties with Italian and French cultural institutions, resulting in rare works entering a provincial museum far from major art capitals.
