Danube Park is Novi Sad’s most beloved green oasis, a landscaped retreat created in the late 19th century when the city expanded beyond the fortress. Its most interesting fact is that the central lake was once part of a natural marsh; today it’s home to elegant swans and ducks that have become unofficial park mascots. The park’s design blends Austro‑Hungarian garden aesthetics with local botanical traditions, giving it a charming, old‑world character. Inside the park, visitors stroll along winding paths shaded by centuries‑old trees, including rare species introduced during early horticultural experiments. The central lake is the focal point, surrounded by benches and flowerbeds that change with the seasons. Nearby stands the Monument to Jovan Jovanović Zmaj, honouring one of Serbia’s most beloved poets. Another highlight is the Winter Garden, a glass pavilion that once hosted exhibitions and social gatherings. In spring, the park bursts with colour as tulips and magnolias bloom, while autumn transforms it into a palette of gold and red.

Danube Park, known locally as Dunavski Park, is a picturesque green oasis in the heart of Novi Sad, situated at Dunavska 33. Created in the late 19th century on former marshland, this popular public park features serene walking paths, shade-giving trees, marble sculptures, and a central pond complete with a small island home to ducks and swans. Stepping out from the park's tree-lined avenues places you right beside a premier hub of museums along Dunavska Street. Directly adjacent to the park lies the Museum of Vojvodina, showcasing vast archaeological and historical collections. Right next door to it, you can explore modern artworks at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina, or visit the Foreign Art Collection housed in an elegant historic building down the street. Following Dunavska Street toward the city center leads you straight to the Bishop's Palace and Saint George's Cathedral. Continuing along the main pedestrian thoroughfare brings you to Liberty Square, dominated by the majestic Neo-Gothic Name of Mary Church and the historic City Hall. For a scenic stroll, heading south out of the park brings you to the Danube River embankment. Crossing the nearby Varadin Bridge leads straight to Petrovaradin Fortress, a massive 18th-century castle complex set high on a cliff overlooking the river.
