Sighișoara

Sighișoara is one of Romania’s most beautiful and best-preserved medieval towns. Located in the historic region of Transylvania, the city is famous for its colorful houses, cobbled streets, defensive towers, and centuries-old fortifications. Its remarkably preserved historic center has earned recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and attracts visitors from around the world. The heart of the city is the Sighișoara Citadel, a fortified medieval settlement that still serves as a living historic district. Sighișoara is also known as the birthplace of Vlad Dracul, the father of Vlad the Impaler, the historical figure often associated with the Dracula legend. The house where Vlad Dracul is believed to have lived remains one of the town’s most visited landmarks. Walking through Sighișoara feels like stepping back in time. Historic towers such as the Tailors' Tower, Shoemakers' Tower, and Tinsmiths' Tower still stand as reminders of the powerful guilds that once shaped the town.
