Jesus Green

About

Jesus Green is a broad expanse of parkland just north of Cambridge city centre, bordered by the River Cam, Victoria Avenue, and Jesus College. Once part of Midsummer Common, it was separated in 1890 and transformed into a public park, now lined with striking avenues of London plane and horse chestnut trees. The park is home to the historic Jesus Green Lido, one of the longest outdoor swimming pools in Europe, as well as the city’s only public grass tennis courts, a skate park, children’s play area, and dedicated barbecue spots. In summer, it hosts open‑air concerts and community events, while the riverside path offers scenic walks past Jesus Lock and on towards the lower river. Popular with rowers, picnickers, and festival‑goers, Jesus Green blends recreation, heritage, and natural beauty, making it a year‑round favourite for both residents and visitors seeking open space and a relaxed atmosphere in the heart of Cambridge.
