Once farmland and later pasture, it was purchased by the Corporation of Cambridge in 1886 and landscaped into the elegant green space seen today. The park is known for its colourful flower beds, ornamental trees, and the tranquil Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Garden. Criss‑crossed by well‑kept paths, it serves as a popular pedestrian route between the city centre and the Grafton shopping area, while offering tennis courts, a bowling green, and open lawns for relaxation. Milton’s Walk, along its western edge, recalls the poet John Milton’s time at Christ’s College. In every season, Christ’s Pieces blends heritage and horticulture, providing both a peaceful retreat and a lively thoroughfare that reflects the rhythm of Cambridge life.
