The National Trust’s South Foreland Lighthouse is set high on the famous White Cliffs of Dover, overlooking the Strait of Dover, roughly two miles east of Dover town and close to St Margaret’s Bay. Visitors reach the lighthouse by scenic cliff-top walks from the White Cliffs of Dover Visitor Centre, as there is no direct vehicle access. Surrounded by striking coastal scenery, the area features remnants of wartime defences and Fan Bay Deep Shelter—a network of wartime tunnels open seasonally to the public. Dover Castle, the North Downs Way, the King Charles III England Coast Path, and the picturesque village of St Margaret’s-at-Cliffe are all nearby, offering opportunities for walking, history, and spectacular views of the English Channel and sometimes even the French coast.
