Established in 1975, the museum serves as the military museum of the Greek Armed Forces, documenting Greece’s military history from antiquity to modern times. The museum is housed in a Bauhaus-inspired building designed by architect Thucydides Valentis and features exhibitions on major conflicts, including the Greek War of Independence, the Balkan Wars, World War I, and World War II. The museum also showcases artifacts from Alexander the Great’s campaigns, Byzantine military history, and the Greek Expeditionary Corps in Korea. Visitors can explore collections of weapons, uniforms, maps, and engravings, as well as an outdoor display of artillery and aircraft.
