About

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens is a landmark of modern architecture and cultural life, located in the Kallithea district. Designed by Renzo Piano and completed in 2016, the SNFCC houses the National Library of Greece and the Greek National Opera within a 170,000-square-meter landscaped park. The complex was funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and donated to the Greek state in 2017. The architectural design features an artificial hill that integrates the buildings into the landscape, topped by a photovoltaic canopy generating around 3 GWh annually. The park includes Mediterranean flora, playgrounds, and a seawater canal, offering a green oasis for visitors. The SNFCC serves as a hub for cultural, educational, and recreational activities, hosting concerts, exhibitions, and community events throughout the year.
