The Alte Feuerwache in Saarbrücken is the second-largest venue of the Saarländisches Staatstheater, blending historical architecture with modern performance culture. Originally built between 1896 and 1897 as a gymnasium for the Turnerbund St. Johann with a fire station on the ground floor, the building was repurposed in 1982 into a theater space. Today, it accommodates up to 240 spectators with flexible seating, making it ideal for drama, ballet, concerts, and readings. Its intimate atmosphere contrasts with the grandeur of the Großes Haus, offering audiences a closer connection to the performers. The Alte Feuerwache is also a listed monument, preserving its late 19th-century character while serving as a dynamic cultural hub. As part of the Saarländisches Staatstheater, it continues to enrich Saarbrücken’s artistic landscape with diverse programming and innovative productions.

The Alte Feuerwache is located at Am Landwehrplatz 2 in Saarbrücken and is the second-largest venue of the Saarländisches Staatstheater. Originally used as a gymnasium by the Turnerbund St. Johann, it has functioned as a theater venue since 1982, accommodating up to 240 guests with flexible seating arrangements. Primarily hosting drama performances, it also offers ballet, opera, concerts, and special matinee and soirée events. The venue lies near the vibrant Staatstheater area, close to the Hauptbahnhof (main train station), and is served by bus lines 126, 128, and the Saarbahn at the Landwehrplatz stop. Nearby parking includes the Landwehrplatz lot and the Q-Park Staatstheater garage. The building features accessible entrances and amenities, including an elevator and wheelchair-accessible seating.
