The Jardin Botanique du Jardin Public, Bordeaux's historic 0.5-hectare municipal botanical garden established in 1858, is located within the larger Jardin Public at Place Bardineau, in the elegant Chartrons/Saint-Seurin district between Cours de Verdun and Rue de la Course, a short walk northwest of Place des Quinconces and the Garonne riverfront. It houses over 3,000 plant species including Aquitaine natives and exotics from Asia and North America, with access via the Palais du Capitole pavilion amid ponds, lawns, and winding paths. Nearby attractions feature the Natural History Museum (Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle), playgrounds, the Guignol Guérin puppet theater, L’Orangerie café-restaurant, antique shops and boutiques along Rue Notre-Dame, and tram line A at the Jardin Public stop for easy city center access.​
