Place de la Bourse

About

The Place de la Bourse is one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated landmarks, embodying the elegance of 18th‑century French architecture. Designed by Ange‑Jacques Gabriel and completed in 1775, the square was created to symbolize the city’s prosperity and openness to trade. Its harmonious classical façades, adorned with sculpted details, frame the iconic Fountain of the Three Graces at the center. Facing the Garonne River, the square is complemented by the Miroir d’Eau, the world’s largest reflecting pool, which creates a stunning interplay of light and symmetry. Once the seat of the Stock Exchange, Place de la Bourse now stands as a cultural and civic hub, admired by locals and visitors alike. By day or illuminated at night, it offers a breathtaking panorama that captures the spirit of Bordeaux’s historic grandeur and modern vitality.
