This impressive 54-meter tall monument commemorates the Girondins, a political group during the French Revolution, and features a column topped with the statue of the Spirit of Liberty breaking its chains. Nearby, visitors can find the riverfront along the Garonne River, two rostral columns symbolizing Bordeaux’s maritime heritage, and large statues of famous Bordeaux philosophers Montaigne and Montesquieu.
