Teatro di Rifredi is one of Florence’s most vibrant neighbourhood stages, located in the lively Rifredi district. Opened in the 1970s, it quickly became a landmark for satire and physical theatre thanks to the comic troupe I Giancattivi. From 1986 to 2021 it was home to the company Pupi e Fresedde, which transformed it into a hub for new dramaturgy and international collaborations. Since 2022 the theatre has been part of the Fondazione Teatro della Toscana, expanding its focus on contemporary writing, research, and emerging artists. With around 290 seats, the venue offers an intimate yet energetic atmosphere, appreciated for its inclusive programming and partnerships such as the Florence Queer Festival. Today, Teatro di Rifredi remains a cornerstone of Florence’s cultural life, blending community spirit with innovative performance.
