Royal Chancellery of Granada
The Royal Chancellery of Granada stands as one of the most significant Renaissance institutions in Spain, symbolising the authority of the Catholic Monarchs after the conquest of the city. Established in the early 16th century as the highest court of appeal for southern Spain, the building reflects the power and order the new rulers sought to impose. Its façade combines sober classical lines with heraldic motifs, while the interior reveals an elegant courtyard framed by arcades and stone columns. Over the centuries, the Chancellery shaped legal and administrative life across Andalusia, leaving a deep imprint on the region’s judicial history.
