The Moor’s Chair, perched on the hillside of the Alhambra’s northern edge, is one of Granada’s most atmospheric viewpoints. Known in Spanish as La Silla del Moro, it forms part of the remains of an ancient Nasrid watchtower that once guarded the approaches to the palace complex. Although only fragments of the original structure survive, the site retains a powerful sense of history, offering a quiet escape from the city below. From this vantage point, visitors enjoy sweeping views over the Albayzín, the Darro Valley, and the imposing walls of the Alhambra itself. Legend adds an air of mystery, suggesting that Moorish rulers once sat here to survey their kingdom. The Moor’s Chair (Silla del Moro), also known as Saint Helen's Castle, is located on the northern slopes of the Cerro del Sol hill in Granada, Spain, overlooking the Alhambra and Generalife at approximately Paseo del Generalife, 1B, in the city center district. This 14th-century Nasrid outpost stands above the Alhambra complex, accessible via steep paths from Plaza Nueva or the Cuesta de los Chinos, near the Generalife gardens and the Royal Canal water source. Nearby attractions include the Alhambra fortress and gardens directly below for panoramic views, Sacromonte caves a short hike east, and the Albaicín neighborhood viewpoints like Mirador de San Nicolás across the Darro Valley. ​
