Huis ten Bosch is one of the three official residences of the Dutch royal family and stands as a serene landmark on the edge of The Hague’s Haagse Bos. Built in the 17th century as a stately country house, it later became a royal palace and has since played an important role in the nation’s ceremonial and political life. Its elegant classical architecture and richly decorated interiors reflect centuries of Dutch history, most famously the Oranjezaal, adorned with grand paintings celebrating the House of Orange. Surrounded by forest and landscaped gardens, the palace offers a sense of tranquillity despite its national significance. Although not open to the public, its presence within the wooded parkland makes it a cherished symbol of the monarchy and an enduring part of The Hague’s cultural identity.

Huis ten Bosch Palace is located in the Haagse Bos forest, approximately 3 km northeast of The Hague's city centre along the Bezuidenhoutseweg. This royal residence of King Willem-Alexander and his family is surrounded by extensive parklands featuring walking paths, ponds and ancient trees, offering public views through the gates but no interior access. Nearby are the Clingendael estate and Japanese Garden (1.5 km west), Gemeentemuseum and Kunstmuseum (2 km southwest), Peace Palace (1 km south), and easy tram or bus connections from Den Haag Centraal station via the forest route.
