Haagse Bos is located in the Haagse Hout district of The Hague, stretching as a vast rectangular woodland from the central Malieveld square near the city centre in the southwest to the border of Wassenaar in the northeast, serving as the green gateway to the city. This centuries-old forest, one of the Netherlands' oldest remaining oak woods covering around 100 hectares, lies adjacent to key landmarks including the royal Huis ten Bosch Palace, home to King Willem-Alexander and his family, along with its expansive gardens, a central pond ideal for picnics, deer enclosures with roaming fallow deer, the Huttenbos play area for building huts, and open spaces like Malieveld used for events such as the City-Pier-City run and Tong Tong Fair. Nearby Clingendael Park with its Japanese garden and historic estates, plus easy access from The Hague Central Station by foot, bike or public transport, enhance its appeal as an urban oasis for walking, jogging, cycling and nature spotting.
