Zuiderpark is one of The Hague’s most beloved green spaces, a vast urban park that blends open lawns, wooded paths, and lively recreational areas into a single welcoming landscape. Created in the early twentieth century as the city’s first large public park, it still carries that spirit of accessibility and community. Zuiderpark is located in the southern part of The Hague, in the Escamp district along Mr. P. Drooglever Fortuynweg, accessible via entrances on Vreeswijkstraat, Loevesteinlaan, Melis Stokelaan and Veluweplein. This expansive green space, designed in the 1920s and opened in 1936, forms the heart of local neighbourhoods including Moerwijk, Morgenstond, Leyenburg and Rustenburg-Oostbroek. Nearby facilities include the Zuiderparktheater open-air stage for summer concerts and festivals, Sportcampus Zuiderpark indoor arena, an overdekt swimming pool, skate park, nature playgrounds, Arboretum Landen with rare global trees, flower and herb gardens, a duck decoy, bowlingbaan, boat rental, Parkpaviljoen restaurant and fallow deer enclosure.
