Koepelkathedraal Haarlem is one of the Netherlands’ most remarkable churches, a monumental creation by architect Joseph Cuypers built between the late 19th and early 20th century. Its striking dome, soaring towers and blend of Neo‑Gothic, Neo‑Romanesque, Jugendstil and Amsterdam School elements give the cathedral a unique and expressive character. Inside, light becomes part of the architecture: stained‑glass windows cast vivid colours across mosaics, sculptures and richly detailed chapels, creating an atmosphere that shifts throughout the day. More than fifty Dutch artists contributed to its decoration, making the cathedral a true gesamtkunstwerk. After an extensive restoration completed in 2019, the Koepelkathedraal has re‑emerged as both a place of worship and a cultural destination, offering tours, exhibitions and panoramic tower climbs that reveal Haarlem from above.

Koepelkathedraal Haarlem, also known as St Bavo Cathedral or Cathedral Basilica of St Bavo, is located at Leidsevaart 146 (Bisschop Bottemanneplein) just outside the historic city centre along the scenic Leidsevaart canal. A 15-20 minute walk from Haarlem Centraal station, it offers ample on-site parking and bus connections, with the area featuring residential streets and green spaces rather than heavy tourist crowds. Nearby, visitors can stroll back to the Grote Markt square with St Bavo's Grote Kerk, cafés along the canal, and the old town's pedestrian streets leading to Frans Hals Museum and Teylers Museum.
