The Royal Palace of Stockholm, or Kungliga Slottet, is one of Europe’s largest and most historically significant palaces. Kungliga Slottet, or the Royal Palace, is located at Slottsbacken 1 in Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s Old Town, and serves as the official residence of the Swedish monarch. This grand Baroque palace dominates the north end of Gamla Stan and features over 600 rooms on 11 levels, including the Royal Apartments, Hall of State, Treasury, Tre Kronor Museum, and the Royal Armoury. The palace is open year-round, though certain areas may close for state functions. Nearby, you’ll find some of Stockholm’s most important historical and cultural sites. Storkyrkan (Stockholm Cathedral) and the Nobel Prize Museum are just steps away in the heart of Gamla Stan. The Riksdag (Swedish Parliament) is adjacent to the palace, and Stortorget, the main square of Old Town, is a short walk away.
